Utility
Insulator string is the weakest link in the insulation structure of tower top of transmission line. If shielding failure or countattack to wire during lightning strike to tower top, strong short circuit current will pass throught the surface of insulator after power frequency forming electric arc. This will result in: firstly, switch shutting off short circuit current will burn through contact, which increases the frequency of big repair and requires higher expenses. Secondly, after flowing power-frequency short-circuit current caused by insulator (series ) flashover, ends will be damaged seriously, deterioration and ablation will occur in interface, and insulator (seires) will have to be powered off for change, which will increase maintenance work and require more operating expenses. The mounting of line type arrester can improve lightning resistance level effectively, protect insulator (series), reduce the trip rate, improve the reliability of electricity and obviously reduce maintenance & operating expenses.
